The McKee Glass Company of Jeanette, Pennsylvania, began making "bottoms up" shot glasses in the early 1930s, and they were first introduced in speakeasies. The first original "bottoms up" tumbler was a cup-shaped tumbler with a nude draped over the base, and the nude's legs were spread apart.
